Welterweight Title Fight Announced for Cage Warriors 170

Cage Warriors have announced that there will be a Welterweight title fight at Cage Warriors 170 on 6 April 2024 at Simmonscourt RDS, Dublin.

The title has been vacated by Giannis Bachar, who has been selected to enter the UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter 32.

The Welterweight title fight will be between Dublin’s James Sheehan and the Swiss fighter Daniel Konrad.

James Sheehan

James ‘Jimbo Slice’ Sheehan has been with Cage Warriors since 2019 and is sure to get the local support for this fight.

His overall professional MMA record is 7-3-0 and his record in Cage Warriors is 6-2-0. His only losses in Cage Warriors were by decision to Ian Machado Garry and Oban Elliott, both now in the UFC.

Of his seven professional wins, two were by KO/TKO, two by submission and three by decision. He has never been stopped, either as an amateur or a professional. He also has a win on his record over the previous Cage Warriors Welterweight title challenger Omiel Brown.

Sheehan’s last fight was a unanimous points victory over Olli Santalahti at Cage Warriors 161 on 14 October 2023. This was also held at Simmonscourt RDS, Dublin.

Daniel Konrad

As well as fighting for the title, Daniel Konrad is making his Cage Warriors debut at Cage Warriors 170.

He is the current Welterweight champion for the Austria-based promotion Cage Fight Series. He won this title in his last fight, which was against Tomasz Langowski on 10 March 2023. Konrad won by submission from an armbar after only 43 seconds of the first round.

His professional MMA record is 6-1-0. Of his six wins, four were by submission (three by armbar and one by triangle choke) and two by KO/TKO.

He is currently on a four-fight win streak, three of which were by submission from armbars. James Sheehan will obviously need to watch out for this.
